According to the annual reports from three main Chinese institutions for journal evaluation, including China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Institute of Scientific & Technical Information of China (ISTIC), and Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD), the various impact factors of Journal of Geomechanics have increased year by year.

As indicated by the latest 2021 Annual Report for Chinese Academic Journal Impact Factors (Nature Science) published by CNKI, the impact factor of Journal of Geomechanics ranks 7th among 103 academic journals in the field of geology.
