PALEOGENE AND NEOGENE PALEOCLIMATIC CHANGES IN THE TURPAN BASIN,NORTHWEST CHINA

摘要: 新疆吐鲁番盆地的连木沁剖面古近系与新近系的沉积厚度约1770m,是研究吐鲁番盆地这一时段古气候的良好载体。通过对连木沁剖面沉积物中常量元素地球化学分析,表明吐鲁番盆地在晚古新世阶段和晚始新世阶段,气候炎热湿润,但后者波动比较频繁。在渐新世,气候温暖干旱。中新世的气候变化明显可分为两个阶段,早期气候炎热潮湿,而晚期阶段温暖干旱。到上新世,气候显著干旱化。Abstract: The Paleogene and Neogene at the Lamjin section in the Turpan basin, Xinjiang, have a sedimentary thickness of~1779 m.This section is a good carrier for the study of the paleoclimate in this period in the basin.Major element geochemical analysis of the sediments in the section indicates the following:in the late Paleocene, the climate was warm and wet;in the late Eocene, it was also warm, but dry and wet alternately;in the Oligocene, it was warm and dry;in the Miocene, the climate was divided into two phases, being warm and wet in the early phase and cold and dry in the late phase;in the Pliocene, it was obviously dry.
